OK, so you know how you arrive at an RV Park near a golf course, and you have a tee time booked for you and your wife, but there is nothing to do for the kids, or so they think? Well, I’m about to give you 23 choices of kids camping games outside that will keep them entertained for hours.

But before I begin, I want to inform you that even if living full time with your kids, these games can also apply to adults just the same, so hey, why not get your game on?

SLAM BALL GAME

It wasn’t till last summer that I saw an explosion of this game being played at one of the campgrounds in the Shuswap. Slam ball is an action packed 2 vs 2 player game, in which teams are to have 3 hits to return or spike the ball onto the net.

The rules are similar to that of Volleyball, in which each team has 3 hits to spike the ball into the ankle high circular net.

Teams “volley” back and forth until a team is unable to return the ball to the net. The first team that makes it to 21, wins.

Bring this game to the beach, campsite, park, or someones really big back yard, in which everyone can play.

The set includes:

• -3 Balls – 2 regulation and 1 practice sized
• -Net – Durable mesh
• -Ball pump
• -Carry Case

Slam Ball is manufactured by the company rev-e-new sales & market development and is branded under different names by different companies.

Other variations of this game are: Smashball, Spyderball, Spikeball, Slammo, Blinngoball and Strikeball.

LADDER BALL

As some may call this game ladder golf or ladder ball toss, this classic game is great for people who like playing games like horseshoes, bocce ball, or darts, and the reasoning for this is strategy, and also, luck.

Ladder ball is an American original, and it’s design resembles how this game was originally played by cowboys using split-rail fences and cow-wrangling bolas.

Since then, it’s been updated and enjoyed by many kids and families as a fun activity.

Each kit includes two steel framed ladders (not the cheap plastic kind), 3 red bolas, 3 blue bolas, instructions and a storage carry bag. It is a great game for tailgating, BBQs, camping, family reunions or plain old, back yard fun. To play the game, I could go into detail, but with 20 more games to go through I'll skip over it. Besides, many people should know how to play this classic game, as it's been around for over a decade.

FIRESIDE STORY DICE

Meant more for evening fun, this outside kids camping game allows participants to tell stories by the fire instead of be on their devices. One of the oldest traditions as old as camping was sitting by a fire telling stories, so why not bring that back with this game. To play, quite simply roll the dice and make a story based on the symbols that come up. The best part about this game is that there are no rules and the symbols can mean whatever you want. What comes in a durable tin box, you have 12 wooden dice to roll, color coated to help aid you in telling one of the best campfire stories that you can think of. Not just for kids, top this game off with a few S'mores and you're good to go.

Coghlan's Net Toss set is an ultra-portable way to play what you may know as the classic bean bag toss game. Using collapsible targets instead of a bulky chunk of wood, this game can be set up anywhere and in just a matter of seconds. Nets are easily secured in place with 4 included steel anchor pegs, plus each net is 10" wide, so you're sure not to miss (unless your aim is super bad). Here's a fun game that requires a Frisbee, precision, and an accurate throw. To play, simply throw, and deflect it into the barrels. It is extremely portable and compact and super easy to set up. It includes 2 pop-up barrels, 1 Frisbee flying disc, 6 pegs to attach the barrels securely to the ground, instructions and a carry pouch. Other variations of this game use plastic cans, and other brands of this game are called Disc toss, or Disc Flying game by Kan-Jam. All brands and versions of this game can be played anywhere outdoors and even at any time of day, as there is one particular company that has made an illuminating glow-in-the-dark kit. Currently, this brand is not available online, but can be found at such places like Home Depot with part # 99974.

CHICKEN DISK BATTLE

Here's an unbelievably fun backyard or campground game for kids, families and friends. Throw the disc and knock the chicken off the pole while your opponents try to catch the disk and/or the chicken for points. For a game that is easy to set-up, lightweight and portable, this set includes:

• -2 telescopic poles
• -2 squeaky chicken targets (not meant for dogs)
• -1 disk and carry bag

Other variations of this game you may realize people using beer cans, but that is the adult's only version, and should be played responsibly. The end result could lead you rather tired the next day on a ride with your top rated mountain bike.

This above statement changes with this safer version being where the darts themselves do not have anymore pointy ends. Apparently, too many eyes were being taken out? To be played by either two people or teams, this is the perfect outdoor activity game for camping and kids. You can find this game on Amazon, but it is currently un-priced.

RACKET SET

This next game is a perfect way to relax and recharge when you break out this racket set for the kids. It is a great way for them to test their hand-eye coordination while camping or traveling. It also adds a little casual fun to any excursion. This set offers several variations of play by including one bird, one foam ball, one inflatable tennis ball, and two rackets. Now you can get your skills up by playing badminton, tennis or just hitting the object back and forth.
