Checklists can be the difference between a confirmed answer and a guessed answer.
Well, here we are ready for that camping adventure in your RV, and you’re ready to go. All of a sudden, your family decides it’s time to switch things up, and they want a different adventure.
One without your RV, and more off-grid than usual. No Panic!
With a few modifications to your camping list checklist, you find yourself all set up for this new experience.
Let’s get right down to it shall we?
Break it Down
First things first, pull out your camping list checklist and write down the absolute “must needs” for this trip.
You’ll have to know things like:
- -How long are you going for?
- -Where are you going?
- -What are your surroundings going to be?
- -How many of you are going?
- -What is the weather going to be like?
Then, you’ll want to decide what you have, or what you’ll need to pick up along the way, so packing is key at this point.
Don’t worry about if you think you forgot something, you can always improvise if you must.
The key focus here is to make sure you have your essentials.
Make a Primary list, a Secondary list, and a “just in case” list.
This way you’ll be absolutely sure your camping list checklist is 100% accurate.
The Checklist
By now we should have items under our 3 headings.
I want to give you an example list (so if yours isn’t comparable to mine, it’s ok):
- 1-Primary List
- >Tent
- >Sleeping Bag
- >Sleeping Pad
- >Folding Carrying Bed – cot
- >Waterproof Hammock
- >Rainproof Tarp Shelter
- >Coffee Percolator
- >Camping Mug
- >12″ Cast Iron Skillet
- >Propane Camp Stove
- >Emergency Lantern or Flashlight
- >Food
- >Clothing
- 2-Secondary List
- >Mosquito Killer/Lantern
- >Survival Knife
- >4lb. 14″ Axe
- >Outdoor Chair
- >Cooler(s)
- >Fishing Tackle Backpack
- >12-in-1 Hammer
- >3-day Adventure Pack
- >First Aid Kit
- 3-Just in case List
- >Survival Bars
- >Portable Camping Toilet
- >Portable Shower Tent
- >Air Pump
- >Extra Batteries/Flashlights
Now that we have our checklist started, it’s time to pack some of it up into waterproof totes. If one thing is for certain, even though you’ve checked your weather, expect RAIN!
Locking your items up undercover, in totes (like Lego) is important. So always pack it in totes. Also, label your totes. You can go as far as labeling them Primary, Secondary and Just in case totes.
The Experience
So now you’ve broken things down, and made your checklist, and packed everything in totes, it’s time to go and experience your adventure!
Remember, if you need to, input your destination into one of the many Camping Apps available as it would be a wise choice to do that before you embark to your destination!
I would also like to mention a key piece of advice for your arrival at your off-grid camp spot:
- – This should have been mentioned in the Break it Down section, but always familiarize yourselves with Wildlife in the area.
If you’re in Bear country, you’ll always want to store your food supplies in sealable bearproof containers or hang it from a tree branch via a rope.
Alright, so we’ve covered:
- -The surprise change of daily RV life plans to an impromptu off-grid camping trip
- -The Breakdown of Questions for pre-plan mode
- -The make your Camping List Checklist
- -The Pack everything up in waterproof totes
- -The APP to punch in your camping Trip
- -The Unexpected Wildlife possibility (Bearproof container example link above)
All we need next to do is get out there and enjoy yourself!
The Come Back
I have provided you with a list of camping gear to get you to your destination, don’t think that you were finished. Now you have to re-pack to come back home.
Easiest solution, repeat the above steps and all should be simple. The worse thing that could happen is it does rain, and you packed everything so perfectly that there is no room to pack it back as things were when you left.
Solution: Pack a couple of empty totes. The nice part is, is that they stack inside of each other and take up next to no room in this scenario.
Conclusion
I hope you enjoyed reading this post. I tried to keep it short, sweet and to the point, so you can get on with your camping adventure. Feel free to leave your feedback in the comments section below. I will be glad to assist you with a response!
And remember, don’t forget your checklist!
Cheers!
The list provided a comprehensive overview of all the essential items that one should bring on a camping trip, from basic supplies like a tent and sleeping bag to more specialized items like a first aid kit and fire starter.
I also appreciated the inclusion of a packing list for both car camping and backpacking trips, as this allows campers to tailor their packing to their specific needs and preferences.
Overall, this was a great read and I will definitely be using this list as a reference as I plan my next camping trip. Thank you for sharing this valuable information!
You are most welcome!
