What is a Smart Solutions Rock Guard? For that matter, What is Smart Solutions?

When you are towing your 5th Wheel or Travel Trailer down the road, you want something sturdy behind your Chevy, Dodge, or Ford that will stop rocks or small road debris from coming back against your precious cargo in-tow.

Smart Solutions is a company that provides RV solutions, RV accessories, and RV drawers. The products they offer include the Ultra guard, Add-a-Drawer, and Rock Solid Tow Guards, all in which are 100% Made in America.

Essentially, a rock guard acts as an extra layer of protection from throwing loose gravel, or stones behind or beside you, that the mudflaps cannot control.

You may know of a similar product line by the company name Rock Tamers Mudflap System, which focuses on everything that needs a mudflap.

However, we are here to talk about the Smart Solutions brand today, and in doing so, I will inform you of the products they carry, what some part numbers or model numbers are, and give you the option of where to purchase.

So without any hesitation, let’s get right to it!

ROCK SOLID TOW GUARD FOR TRUCKS

First up on the Smart Solutions list is part # 00011 (showcased above), which is a 2-pc unit that measures 34″x14″ and includes channel and hardware.

This design is one that allows air flow through the vented flaps of the all-weather resistant thermoplastic rubber it is made from. Being 2-pc, it is fabricated in flexible strips of material that is attached to an angled, steel channel which installs on the hitch insert of a 2″ receiver hitch.

The reason for this is for easy on and off removal when not towing your RV unit. Being made specifically for pick-ups, they do include another version that can be installed that is just a bit wider than this one. Which turns us over to our next part number on the list below.

ROCK SOLID BACK GUARD FOR TRUCKS

Because the tow guard and back guard are basically the same product, the only difference between the two is the dimensions. (And maybe price and availability).

That’s right, the dimensions of part # 01868 back guard is a 2-pc 48″ x 18″, (although it is referenced on the Smart Solutions website that is measures 34″ x 18″).

Whatever the scenario, they both do the same thing, in eliminating the costly damage that road debris could cause to your towed vehicle, which may result in an insurance claim.

ROCK SOLID BACK GUARD FOR MOTORHOMES

That’s right, not only do they make the back guard for trucks, they designed one for morothomes. If you ask me, that some pretty “smart solutions” right there!

The back guard for motor homes comes in 2 options:

• -Class A Motorhomes – Part # 00002 2-pc 48″ x 20″
• -Class C Motorhomes – Part # 01696 2-pc 42″ x 16″

With this design and the one for trucks, both versions have the durable thermoplastic rubber, and galvanized steel angle channel to attach to your coach.

ULTRAGUARD TRUCK & SPLASH GUARD / MUDFLAP

The Ultra Guard tow guard helps protect towed vehicles from scratches and road grime utilizing a thick 3/8″ thick, nylon cord reinforced rubber skirt.

With a one piece design, that can be modified, or cut to go around exhaust pipes or trailer receiver hitches, this version can be attached to both motor homes and truck mount (which will be removable).

Available in different part numbers, I will list them below:

DUALLY GUARD

The last Smart Solutions rock guard on this list is called the dually guard, and you guessed it, specifically designed for dually’s.

It is a full width all rubber rock guard that’s design is 94″ wide at the bottom (in essence will cover the full dual wheel base). Also, it tapers down to 70″ at the top which fits most truck bumpers.

Mounting again, to the 2″ receiver hitch for easy installation, this all rubber, extra durable 3/8″ thick anti-sail stiffening bar molded product comes with mounting bar included.

Part # 07094 is labeled as the 94″ Pick-up and measures 94″ x 16″ and installs in just minutes

With such a “smart solution” for debris control, all of these rock guards most assuredly will be a go-to option for many.

As mentioned in the beginning, competition is everything and of course other products exist. Are they better, are they worse? Only you, as a consumer will know what you know, and that’s why I encourage comments to be made on this product or any other rock guard brand you have in mind.
