For this article, I decided to put my Jaaxy Research Tool to good use and come up with Suburban RV Appliances. Let’s begin!
Suburban is a manufacturing company that was established in 1947, in Dayton, Tennessee. What started as a product that was focusing on gas space heaters, quickly turned into Suburban RV appliances, specifically RV furnaces, water heaters and cooking appliances for indoor and outdoor kitchens.
In 1998, the Suburban manufacturing company affiliated themselves with Airxcel, which has a plethora of brands.
These include:
- -Maxxair
- -Aqua-hot
- -Colman-Mach
- -Dicor Products
- -United Shade
- -Vixen Composites
- -MCD
- -CAN
- -Cleer Vision Windows
- -Cleer Vision Tempered Glass
Competitive Market
As such, Suburban isn’t the only manufacturer of RV appliances, and “top quality ones” as they claim on their website.
In fact, these name brands I will mention below are rather popular and widely installed on many of these RVs, travel trailers & fifth wheels.
These popular name brands are:
- -BlackStone
- -Dometic
- -Pinnacle
- -Furrion
- -Coleman-Mach
- -Camco
- -Lippert
- -Valterra
- -Norcold
- -Hyundai
However, the benefits of choosing a Suburban product might be a considering factor the next time you are in a bind, as their products are backed by “75 Years of industry knowledge”.
Reasons for choosing Suburban appliances include:
- -They have an extensive product line with RV furnaces & wall heaters, water heaters, cooking appliances and outdoor kitchen set-ups.
- -The company has the only replacement on the market for 6-gallon Dometic water heaters.
- -Warranty is backed by a product guarantee.
- -Easy to access online dealer & service center locator.
For your convenience, I have made it even easier than that. Just click the button below to gain access.
Suburban RV Appliance List
With an array of products available through their website dealers link (which I provided above), they can also be found directly on Amazon for some products as well.
As stated, the manufacturing companies main appliances include:
- 1-Kitchen Cooking Appliances – Ranges, cook tops, griddles and outdoor slide-out kitchens.
- 2-Water Heaters – Tank water heaters & continuous water heaters such as “on-demand” units.
- 3-Climate Control – Furnaces, wall heaters and propane fire pits.
We should note here that these Suburban RV Appliances are going to be costly should you need to replace any of them, and that’s a no-brainer, however there is some good news…
By clicking you can be directed to Airxcels direct web page for module training on each product. This allows you to get a better understanding on how they work, how you can maintain them, and how to diagnose problems with each product.
Course Training
The 4 module complete technical training will showcase and highlight the service, installation and repair of Suburban furnaces, water heaters and cooking appliances.
You will need to register on their website (by clicking above), but essentially you as an average RVer, will gain an exceptional amount of knowledge as to how such equipment operates.
This can be extremely useful if you are ever need to replace any of the appliances. What will take approximately 19 hours of product training through these course modules, you are bound to know more that just the basics, AND you can get back to kid activities like Lego building, right after you repair the water heater or cook top.
Alongside course training with Suburban, they even offer 5 videos that showcase knowledge of water heater maintenance.
For your convenience, I’ve added easy access to all 5 videos below. Give them a watch!
Video 1: Anode Rod
Video 2: Pressure Relief Valve
Video 3: By-pass Valve
Video 4: Sediment
Video 5: Odor
Final Thoughts
As you can see, Suburban RV appliances have a pretty good reputation to withhold.
When in competition with some top quality companies, you’re going to want to utilize the 75 year commitment to the products they have manufactured.
Alongside the fact that they offer genuine training within their website, it goes to show that Suburban should be 1 of your go-to sources for your next appliance, should you require the need.
Of course, if price is your concern, you can always read my article Where is the best source for RV parts and accessories to see if there are other alternatives of purchase points.
However, sometimes it is easiest to stick with the source, as they did mention a product guarantee warranty. That in itself is enough reason for me to stick with any appliance purchased through Suburban!
Feel free to comment below, and I’ll be sure to respond.
Until next time…
Cheers!
It’s great to have short simple maintenance videos to help prevent costly repairs on your RV. I know first hand you should pay for a quality product with a warranty verses a cheap used off brand product. I had a bad experience with replacing water heater on my travel trailer due to poor maintenance and I was without hot water for over a week. I wish I had informative videos or a quality product like Suburban provides. The service center locator is handy too incase I want a quality technician to perform the maintenance and repairs instead of myself.
Absolutely Matt!
Suburban RV appliances aren’t something to fool around with IF you don’t know what you are doing. It is always a good idea to get a quality technician involved, for sure. But for those adventure seekers, the fact they have extensive training models, aren’t a bad idea either.
It’s good to know a little bit about everything, than alot about nothing. 🙂
Cheers!
