When it comes to RV Parts and Accessories, we often have a list of sources and go-to brands that are trustworthy, when it comes to finding said products. And with such an extensive list of parts available in the RV market, we often forget to narrow it down when doing that research.
RV Propane parts for example, is often overlooked when finding that ideal replacement or new part or accessory you’ve been exhaustively searching for.
Below, I will contribute a list of those propane part and accessory solutions via name brand, and give you a generalized idea as to what and where you might find these products within such a category.
ACCESSORIES
Categorizing your RV propane parts starts off with a list of accessories’. There is a staggering number of certain accessories’ you can search for, and all available in different locations ranging from hardware stores, to RV dealerships, to even online on Amazon.
Within the list of parts and accessories’ include:
- -Tank Rack Kits
- -Tank Lock Kits
- -Propane Tanks Blankets
- -Plastic Plugs
- -LPG Tank Sensors
- -LP Gas Checkers / Indicators
- -Mounting Brackets, Screws, Nuts, Other Hardware
- -Valves, Adapters, and Tubing
Of the above mentioned accessories’, many of them have been made by manufacturing companies, some of which you may or may not have heard, that have been developing these parts for quite a few years.
For example, if you take tank covers on the above list, you will find that there are 4 suppliers that make these products. The first being Camco, which you can read about in this article: Camco RV Products & RV Accessories.
In short, Camco makes an extensive line of RV parts and accessories’, most of which are available throughout store fronts, and are also easily accessible online.
The other companies manufacturing these propane accessories’, including tank covers, are:
- -Icon
- -2Eze Skin Cover
- -ADCO
- -Fairview **
- -AP Products
- -Flame King **
- -Manchester Tank
- -Truma
- -Dometic
- -MEC **
- -Camco **
- -Falk
- -PAULIN
- -Safe T Alert **
- -RV Safe
Each company listed above you will note further along in the article, which products they manufacture, and you should also recognize by now, that there are some that have the ** symbols by their names.
These TOP brands are recognized by the ** symbols above for their quality in the RV fields and other areas, however we shouldn’t be discouraged at some other name brands.
As companies like Dometic and AP Products supply the majority of these propane parts as well, while still maintaining quality for their products.
GAS DETECTORS
The first manufacture of gas detectors is AP Products. They make what is called the LPG Tank Sensor. This product can connect to a smart device and the sensor will communicate via Bluetooth signal, to notify you when your tank is empty.
Continuing on however, are other gas detectors available in the RV world. As propane is something to take seriously especially if there is a leak involved.
SIDE NOTE: If you smell propane because your detector isn’t working, follow these instructions:
- -Remove any smoking materials and other open flames if there are no sparks or flames.
- -Shut off the central supply of gas at the valve on the tanks. This will cut off the supply to all appliances running on propane (ranges, refrigerators, furnaces, and hot water heaters).
- -Open windows and doors to your RV unit, and immediately depart the area and contact your propane retailer to report the leak.
- -Before using your propane tank again, have your system inspected by an expert.
Back to the list of other detectors. RV Safe is a company that has at least two propane alarms. One is a straight LP Gas Alarm, and the other is a CO/LP Gas Alarm. Both of which detect Liquid Propane, but the other detects Carbon Monoxide.
Another maker in CO/LP Gas detectors includes Safe T Alert. This manufacturer has quite the extensive list of products in their line, including different colors, models, and styles.
GAS GRILL
If you have a gas grill, likely you’ll need propane parts supplied to them. Of certain styles and types of grilles, Blackstone is a manufacturing company that makes some very interesting grills and accessories’ that will need these propane supplies.
You can search for Blackstone and it’s products (in an upcoming article) under the Appliances page of this website, but if you want an example of grills now, I have an article which you can read about here: What to use for Cooking while Camping – The Camp Chef Portable Flat Top 600 Grill Review.
Some other propane part ideas for grass grills include:
- -Solo Stove Bonfire
- -Outland Living Deluxe Fire Pit
- -Coghlan’s Fire Paste
- -Sandwich Cookers
- -Griddles and Grates
Most of these supplies will be able to be found under the Accessories page of this website.
GAUGE
Of all the simple parts and accessories’ to contend with is the propane gauge. This, is what ideally tells you whether your tank is full and operational, and is regulating under the correct pressure.
Although not as sophisticated as one might think, an electronic LP fuel indicator gauge will notify you when fuel supplies are running low, and the cylinder needs to be refilled.
Different from a gas checker / indicator, these gauges test LP or natural gas controls for correct pressure of leaks.
Some of these products can come as a complete RV test kit, while other accessories’ would include plastic dust caps to cover your gauge.
In any event, although not the most popular sought out RV propane part, it’s still an example of what is out there and available for purchase, to troubleshoot some common and uncommon propane issues known to man.
The name-brands most popular in the sales of these gauge parts include: Fairview, cavagna group, and MEC.
PIGTAILS
No, we are not talking about the animals pig tails, we are all about the actual term used for propane hoses, that supply from the tank to another source.
Pictured below, these propane parts come in a variety of options. From single tank pigtails to dual tank pigtails to even stainless steel braided pigtails.
Not to mention, the high pressure hose assembly that can couple from tank to device (mostly BBQ’s and Regulator valves).
Of the suppliers that focus the makings of these products, are Fairview and MEC.
REGULATOR
Most recently, we had a re-call done on our RV for this propane part. It was due to a faulty regulator that could result in fire, explosion or death, as they claimed in their letter.
That said, we got it changed from the dealership, and all is well in the world of staying warm and cooking with our appliances successful operations.
But to mention what a regulator’s main purpose is, we need to look at it like we would a human. A human’s heart beats and supplies blood to our brain and bodies. In similarity, a propane regulator supplies a gas to its source and appliances.
Essentially, it controls the flow of gas vapor from the tank or container, right to the source or burner tip of said appliance. Not only does it control the flow, it “regulates” it by providing a level of safety where it won’t over pressure it’s appliance.
The major suppliers of this product include:
- -Fairview
- -MEC
An example image of what these regulators will look like is accessible .
TANK COVERS/LOCKS/GAUGES
Although previously mentioned under the accessories’ category, we can similarly utilize a separate category for these three parts as well.
For the most part, this is where the remaining name brands come in, like: Paulin, Dometic, 2EZE, and Adco for example. Other manufacturer names include AP Products and Bryteco, a name brand that wasn’t mentioned in the list, as it’s only utilizing in 1 product.
As well, Camco like previously mentioned is a major manufacturing company for tank covers. But as you can see, Fairview and MEC have produced a lot of the parts in other categories.
TANKS
Last on this immense list or RV propane parts, is the propane tank itself! Supplied by Flame King, as well, Manchester Tank for some models of motor home tanks, this is the brain of the entire operation.
Without your brain, you wouldn’t function. The same can be said for propane, without it, we wouldn’t get our heat source for our furnaces, grills, or other appliances.
