Destination Overview
Nestled in the heart of British Columbia’s Kootenay Rockies, Fairmont Hot Springs is a serene retreat known for its geothermal hot springs, stunning mountain vistas, and lush forests.
The hot springs, renowned for their healing properties, have been attracting visitors for generations.
It’s often overlooked when compared to the neighboring town and more popular destination of Radium Hot Springs, due North of Fairmont Hot Springs.
Getting There
Getting to Fairmont Hot Springs is a picturesque drive through the Kootenay region. Take the scenic route along the Kootenay Highway (Highway 93/95), offering captivating views of the Columbia Valley and Purcell Mountains. As you approach, the anticipation of relaxation and natural beauty will build with every mile.
For viewing purposes, I am attaching a 25-minute video that would take you from a town called Invermere, which is North of Fairmont Hot Springs, right into Fairmont Hot Springs. This video would be in real-time so it is as if you’re actually making the trip!

Fairmont Hot Springs RV Resort: This RV resort offers spacious sites, full hookups, and access to the hot springs. Be sure to book your site in advance, especially during peak seasons. The resort also features a golf course and a variety of dining options.
Spruce Grove Campground: A quieter option with well-maintained facilities and proximity to local attractions. It’s an excellent choice for those seeking a peaceful retreat.
Daily Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Relaxation
- – Morning Activities: Arrive at Fairmont Hot Springs RV campground and settle into your RV site. Don’t miss a dip in the natural hot springs, known for their healing minerals.
- – Lunch Spots: Explore the local dining scene, with options ranging from casual cafes to gourmet restaurants.
- – Afternoon Adventures: Take a leisurely stroll along the Columbia Valley Wetlands Interpretive Trail, a haven for birdwatchers and nature lovers, or stroll on through to the many nearby trail heads accessible from the RV resort.
- – Evening Relaxation: As the day winds down, soak in the hot springs once more, this time under the starry sky. It’s the ultimate way to unwind. It’s also a good muscle relaxant!

– Steamers Cafe: Start your day with a grab and go breakfast. It’s the perfect place to plan your day’s adventures. Whether it’s freshly made pastries or a nice cup of brew, this is the first place you should see.

Insider Insights
During our visit, we discovered that the Hot Springs was closed for maintenance. It was unfortunate to experience this, however not terribly disappointing.
The RV resort gave us wrist bands that gained access to the main resorts pool and mineral spa. Just as this was looking to be like a flop, they also accommodated us with free mini-golf access and usage of the weight and activity room.
We didn’t experience the Lussier hot springs, but we did partake in the many hiking trails nearby, and even checked out the hidden hot springs and waterfall as seen here in this video:
